Animal Aid's campaign for mandatory CCTV and independent monitoring in all UK slaughterhouses. Helping vets to see what happens in the stunning and slaughter areas when they cannot be present.
There are many politicians who support the campaign for mandatory CCTV
Welsh Assembly Members
QUOTES FROM WELSH ASSEMBLY MEMBERS

Janet Finch-Saunders AM - Image copyright National Assembly for Wales Commission ‘[It is] of utmost importance that animals are treated with respect and dignity at all times, including at the end of their lives. The committee does not believe that the purely voluntary approach currently being taken forward by the Welsh Government is sufficient to ensure that correct welfare standards will be upheld in all cases…’

– Janet Finch-Saunders AM, Chair of the Petitions Committee and Welsh Conservative Member for Aberconwy

Mike Hedges AM - Image copyright National Assembly for Wales Commission ‘I support the call by Animal Aid that the Welsh Government makes the installation and maintenance of CCTV monitoring systems mandatory in all slaughterhouses in Wales. This should cover all areas of the premises which are involved in the holding or processing of live animals and supported by requirements on the placement and operation of cameras, and the retention and storage of recordings and the availability of recordings for inspection. Animals cannot speak up for themselves so we need to.’

– Mike Hedges AM, Welsh Labour Member for Swansea East

Mohammad Asghar (Oscar) AM - Image copyright National Assembly for Wales Commission ‘CCTV has been mandatory in every abattoir in England in all areas where live animals are present since May 2018. Scotland announced plans for similar new laws last year. However, in Wales, 14 out of 24 slaughterhouses do not have cameras, although the Welsh Government has made money available for their installation. RSPCA Cymru and Animal Aid both support mandatory CCTV to deter abuses and to help vets with regulation and monitoring. I believe it is time for the Welsh Government make CCTV in abattoirs mandatory in Wales.’

– Mohammad Asghar (Oscar) AM, Welsh Conservative Member for South Wales East

David J Rowlands AM - Image copyright National Assembly for Wales Commission ‘I cannot see any reason why any slaughter house operator would object to the installation of CCTV on their premises if their operations are in accordance with agreed practices. I have also heard no cogent argument against compulsory installation of CCTV in all slaughterhouses in Wales.’

– David J Rowlands AM, Commissioner and Brexit Party Member for South Wales East

Jenny Rathbone AM - Image copyright National Assembly for Wales Commission ‘I support mandatory video surveillance in abattoirs – and on fishing boats.’

– Jenny Rathbone AM, Welsh Labour Member for Cardiff Central
